Since announcing the end of Aerial Fantasy last week, the outpouring of love from you, our fans, as well as from the wider industry has made a lot of noise. So much noise that even the BBC wanted to get in on the conversation! You can read our co-founder's interview here.
Thank you so much for all the support. We're looking forward to playing these last 6 gameweeks with you!
LONDON CITY LIONESSES V ARSENAL (0-2)
The Barclays Women’s Super League is back up and running following what felt like a rather extensive break and, just like before, Renée Slegers’ Arsenal side is on winning form.
In their return to action since the international break, Olivia Smith and Stina Blackstenius made sure the Gunners departed back to North London with another three points as they continue their battle to complete the 2025/26 season within the top three, therefore qualifying for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League – they are currently one point behind Chelsea, who sit in third.
The two goals, which came in the 15th and 76th minutes, secured Arsenal their eighth consecutive victory across all competitions.
While the fixture marked a second loss against Arsenal this season for London City Lionesses, it was a moment of celebration for the club who, in just their maiden season in the WSL, achieved their first sold out home game. 5,414 fans filled the Copperjax Community Stadium – not really a surprise when you consider the selling power of not just the current Arsenal squad, but the numerous London City players who used to call N7 their home.
Wearing the captain’s armband for London City, Daniëlle van de Donk reached her 100th WSL appearance – she achieved 96 of those in her opposition’s shirt. Freya Godfrey, a key component of London City’s successful inaugural season, began her career at Arsenal.
LIVERPOOL V LEICESTER CITY (2–0)
The first half of the 2025/26 season was, to be polite about it, disastrous for Gareth Taylor’s Liverpool. A constant stream of embarrassing losses left the Reds facing the genuine chance of relegation.
However, a new year, with a slew of fresh faces, has seemed to turn the tide. Now, following a solid victory against Leicester City, they find themselves four points off the bottom off the WSL table, sitting ahead of West Ham and, this gameweek opponents, Leicester City.
The Northern side have Beata Olsson and Ceri Holland (and a penalty) to thank for the small sense of relief this result is sure to give. However, the season is far from finished and, as any long time follower of this league will tell you, almost anything can happen.
While the Liverpool squad may have a few smiles on their faces, the same cannot be said for Leicester City who have now lost all five of their league fixtures in 2026. Not to add insult to injury, but their only goal in those fixtures was in fact an own goal.
When these sides last came face-to-face way back in September, the Foxes boasted a 1–0 success – really rather putting Liverpool’s growth into perspective.
